Combat Canes
66"Combat Cane" is a marketing term for a Cane with defensive features. They can also be called a Hapkido Cane, fighting Cane or my favorite, Defensive Cane. These styles of Canes have special features designed for self-defense. They might include a large crook for hooking head or limbs; sharper crook tips for attacking soft tissue and carved grips for pulling. Stay away from Canes with metal parts or worse still a hidden (and illegal) sword blade. An all-wood Cane can be carried on an Airplane. Some good choices in woods are Hickory, Rattan and Coccus wood. Hickory is very strong and some feel heavy. Rattan is a traditional material for a Hapkido Cane, light, strong and limber. I deliberately tried to break one by swinging it two handed like a baseball bat against an Oak tree. The Rattan Cane did not break. Coccus (Golden) wood is an Asian hardwood that is lighter then Hickory and can be had at a reasonable price. They can have custom carved features and have a nice polished finish. My strong suggestion would be to not descript your cane as a combat fighting cane designed to maim or kill. Rather, just refer to it as your Cane. You use your Cane for balance and support. This may help you if you have to defend yourself legally in court after protecting yourself, See http://www.defensivecane.cdavisgroup.com/ for a full line of defensive Canes and Self defensive DVD's. Your canes look very good but you don't provide the crook dimension on the different styles.
If the crook dimension is what I am looking for, I will be ordering one.
thank you
